The card




Finally found..

After becoming convinced that it had gone forever I opened a box in the back bedroom and there it was:- a Christmas card sent to me by the great man way back in 1982!

Maybe I should explain: when Louise first moved in we had to decide which furniture was kept (no contest really, hers is far better quality than mine) so, once we had decided, everything was placed in storage so work could commence on updating the house. That was in mid 2007. Anyway, we were chatting one night and I mentioned that John P had sent me a card years ago: she asked me where it was but, try as I might, the said item was nowhere to be found so I convinced myself that it was lost forever....

Fast forward to January 2009, I was emptying boxes in the back bedroom (soon to be the nursery) and I found an envelope. Inside was a letter from Mute Records AND the card!! to say I was overjoyed would be an understatement.. Anyway, here it is

John P

With the benefit of hindsight, I now realise that John was the one person I would like to have met for a chat as he encompases those ineffible qualities: modestly, humility and the fact that he was so down to earth... when I feel low I think back to the times he opened my eyes to wierd and wonderful music then smile
