Mothering sunday

*sigh* the ultimate double kick in the nuts, mothers day and lose an hour in bed! still, I only woke up at quarter past eleven so it did not affect me unduly.

Went to watch "Dumbo" last night with my good lady and our 'human whirlwind' of a daughter (and one of her school friends).. not a bad film but more an adaptation of the original Disney cartoon rather than a modern recreation, no need for spoilers here.

The house smells of Roast chicken (which is my favorite white meat) so it is nearly time for tea.

Funny how time slips away..

After over three months off work, initially with Sciatica then psycological problems, the time certainly got away from me... the only people who really stood by me are my lovely wife Louise and our live wire daughter Scarlett; now I fully understand what my wife has to cope with 24/7 (she is diagnosed bipolar so has problems of her own), the feeling of utter helplessness is hard to explain but it exists under those conditions.

On a totally separate subject may I reccommend that you listen to Mick Capewell on D.C.R, he does two completely seperate programmes every weekend: Rose-coloured glasses on Friday (9 to midnight) & Poets minstrels and troubadours on a Saturday (2 till 4 in the afternoon). The former focuses on a specific year, the latter does exactly what it says on the tin! as an "avid" it compliments Brian Matthews programme perfectly.

Cheesy listening

Having finally sussed out how to digitise viynl I've been rifling through my collection for likely candidates.... so to my fruit-based MP3 player I have added "Welcome to Camberwick Green" "Hymns Tijuana style" (not quite as horrific as the title suggests) and "Tijuana Sounds of Brass (but that one is!!). Also digitised "Tijuana christmas" but its a tad early to be adding that...

Parenting

When I turned 41 it appeared that my future was set in stone:- single, unhappy and overweight.. now I'm 46, married and happy as a pig in you-know-what!! my lovely wife and our BEAUTIFUL daughter bring me untold joy & serenity.

I realise that all sounds incredibly hokey but its true

Free at last (till a week on Monday anyway)..

After an exceedingly stressful morning/ early afternoon yours truly is able to sit down & gather what wits remain..... till the birth of our georgous little girl 18 months ago I still found it hard to believe that an alcohol-free weekend would be a regular occurance (despite my wife saying I was free to go out whenever I wanted too) but, in all honesty, the very thought of beer now just turns my stomach! one side effect of this is a loss of weight and I am now exactly 13st 7lb: this is the lightest I've EVER been (at my heaviest I was close on 17 stone).

Am I the only one who thinks that the national census is a complete waste of money? does it serve any real purpose?? apart from make some rich American firm richer... what with that and the fact that an even richer American religious organisation makes money from holding OUR genealogy records which means WE have to go to THEIR temples to view them!!
